It is built in the style of a single-space basilica and part of a Roman sarcophagus has been built on the exterior of the eastern side. On the south-eastern side of the church, a later dated tower-shaped bell tower has also been added. The painted decorations of the temple include great oil-paintings which cover the side walls and the wooden roof. These paintings are copies of religious works of art by great European artists. Also worth noting is the wooden carved iconostasis, the ambo on a Corinthian-style column and the despot’s (high-ranking bishop) throne. The temple also includes nineteenth century paintings, characteristic artwork of the Ionian Islands School.
